The ACUP hosts a seminar on university funding

The ACUP organized, June 13, a special seminar on university funding in order to propose and discuss a new model of university funding for public universities. The seminar was held with the participation of rectors of the universities and social council presidents of the ACUP, the Advisory Board members and representatives of the Catalan Government.

Within the seminar, the president of the ACUP and rector of the University Rovira i Virgili, Francesc Xavier Grau, presented the proposed funding model for public universities. The Director General of Universities, Lluís Jofre, shared priorities and thrusts of the Catalan Government and three international experts in higher education brought an international perspective to the session. M. Helena Nazaré, current president of the European University Association and member of the Advisory Board of the ACUP, presented an overview of European trends in the financial models. Peter Maassen, professor of higher education studies at the University of Oslo, shared the recent changes in the Scandnavian university funding. Ziegele Frank, director of CHE Consult shared the funding model for Germany with special emphasis on the differences between the Länder.
