GUNi presents in Barcelona the 'Higher Education in the World Report 5: Knowledge, Engagement and Higher Education: Contributing to Social Change'
The Global University Network for Innovation (GUNi) presents today, October 14, in the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site, in Barcelona the 'Higher Education in the World Report 5: Knowledge, Engagement and Higher Education: Contributing to Social Change'. The 5th GUNi Report is a product of three years research, consultations, academic seminars and an international conference, to which 73 authors from 34 countries have contributed to. It is the result of a global and regional analysis of the main current trends, challengers and future visions on the way that community and university engage. More than 30 events are launching the GUNi Report in more than 20 countries this year.
Nowadays the role of knowledge is crucial for society but, how institutions really engage with deep and emerging societal needs? How do they identify critical issues on this matter? The 5th Report looks at the roles of higher education institutions as active players in contributing to solve major global problems and social change. The report critically examines the theory and practice of community-university engagement as a key feature in the evolution of higher education.
GUNi invites you to discuss the key higher education issues raised in the report with the guest editors: Budd Hall (Canada) and Rajesh Tandon (India), academics and professionals in the field. (Please see the programme enclosed on the right).
