Seminar on International Rankings of High Education and University Research

Last June 21 took place the "Seminar on International Rankings of High Education and University Research" in Casa Convalescencia, Barcelona. The aim of the seminar was learning about the different systems of international university rankings and its methodologies of classification from a critical point of view. There were invited two international experts; Gero Federkeil (Manager in charge of rankings for the CHE-Center for Educational Development, Germany, and member of the International Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence Group) and Frans Kaiser (Coordinator of the project U-Map and U-multirank, in Centers for Higher Education Policy Studies, University of Twentee, The Netherlands). University staff and technical personnel of the offices of international relations and planning offices of the universities, as well as representatives of the Interuniversity Advice of Catalonia and of the Universities & Research Department of the Catalan Government were at the seminar.
